Welcome to Eastern States Building Officials Federation

The Eastern States Building Officials Federation is an organization which represents the interests of code officials in the geographic areas covered by the following States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. The select boundary is not absolute and membership from contiguous States and Canadian Provinces is invited.

The Federation membership is made up of code officials who are engaged in actively enforcing, administering and/or formulating laws and ordinances relating to the construction, maintenance, or use of buildings and other structures, or to those who, even though retired, continue to assist the public in an advisory capacity.

An associate membership is available to those persons who are public officials, or engage in a business or profession related to buildings and structures.

The purpose of the Federation is as follows:

• To disseminate information to its membership to enable them to better interpret laws and to better perform their services as code officials in their communities.
• To inform the code officials of new procedures of enforcement, methods of construction, or the use of new products or materials available to the building trades.
• To elevate the position of a code official to a level commensurate with the responsibilities and obligations placed upon him.
• To act as a responsible authority on matters affecting code officials in general.
• To maintain good fellowship and mutual understanding among its members and to foster cooperation between the members and others directly or indirectly connected to the building industry.
• To promote the affairs of the Federation, which will contribute to its perpetuity.
• To promote the interest of, and lend support to, the activities of the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., and other affiliated organizations.

Persons who are interested in joining the Federation may do so by completing the attached membership application, downloading it and mailing with a check to the Treasurer, as listed on the application.
